WSUS 3.2.7600.226 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
Each morning I get reports from our WSUS server emailed to me for any new 'Critical or Security' updates that were synchronized and a status summary breaking down what computers at what locations need updates applied to them.
For the past week or so my status summary reports tell me most all the computers in our organization have updates they need to install. This update process is scheduled to run during the early AM hours each day. However each morning I get the email status summary saying I still have the same number of computers needing updates.
Checking WSUS itself by location for these computers, it shows there are updates that need to be applied. Clicking on the 'Updates Needed' report for a computer that is listed under a location and going to page 2 shows me the update that is missing.
Clicking on the name of the update pulls up the detailed report for that update. The 'approval Summary' says its approved for install for all computers. Clicking on the word 'Install' under approval brings up the options to approve or decline the update. This is where I found a warning message saying 'The files for this update failed to download. The update can be approved but will not be available to computers until the download is complete. Click retry download to start the download again'.
In WSUS I go back to all updates and sort them by 'Any Except Declined' with a status of 'Failed or Needed' and the results show me that there are 11 updates that failed to download. They do say they have been superseded by another update.
Checking server manager, when I tried to Retry Download, for any error messages it does show errors listed for the Windows Server Update Services Event 364 ' Content file download failed. Reason: HTTP status 403: The client does not have sufficient access rights to the requested server object. I check that location on our D drive and the permissions look like they are set correctly. So I am not really sure what is going on. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on what else to try or look at?
Thanks.
